If you’re experiencing a dental emergency of any sort, don’t hesitate to call Somersmiles Dental for our expert emergency dentists to make quick work of the matter! However, there are a few measures you can take to control the situation as you make your way to the practice:
Use a clean guaze and washcloth inside your mouth to bite down on. By applying pressure for a few minutes, the bleeding should stop. If it doesn’t stop, we recommend getting to our emergency room ASAP!
If you manage to come visit us within the first hour of your accident, we MAY be able to restore your tooth! So, if you find any large tooth fragments or knocked out teeth, avoid touching it by the root. Avoid damaging it by scrubbing any dirt off it.
In order to bond your tooth back into place, proper storage is incredibly important. The tooth/fragment needs to be kept moist. Use a sealed container to store the tooth and keep it barely covered with milk. You can even hold the tooth against the inside of your cheek, but you’ll have to be extremely careful not to swallow it.
Use a cold compress pressed to the side of your face to reduce any swelling. You can also take anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen to handle any pain that stems from inflammation.
Somersmiles Dental is always ready to handle your dental emergencies. Call us today and we’ll have one of our experienced dentists ready to help you!
